How I Did It
Meetings, Interviews, Focus Groups, and Surveys have all and beyond being the key methods used to establish significant ties, and gather information about our institution from both the bottom-up to the top-down. Being in contact with Immersive industry's practitioners have also been key in equipping me with a greater understanding of what it means to use and apply these technologies within corporate training and education with all the challenges and opportunities that those bring.
Industry contacts have been gained through the attendance of multiple local events (Sources: Wired Sussex, Meetup.com, Networking) but also through research and direct emailing. One of these last examples was Immersive VR Education, Ltd. The Irish Company is the developer of the VR Platform ENGAGE, a Multi-Users Virtual Environment system for corporate training and education purposes. My relationship with Chris Long - business developer at their London-based office - has led to the organization of a Workshop at our University to introduce the platform to some of the members of the staff and start bringing in external free resources for them to explore and imagine the possibilities with it.
My project has overall been all about the people. It existed and still leaves today thanks to this precious network of individuals I have day-by-day nurtured and grown.
